Astrid Halsema

Astrid Halsema, born in Wijk bij Duurstede, quickly realized that the Grafisch Lyceum was exactly the place where she belonged and it was also the perfect place for her to further develop her skills. Still she followed her passion which led her interest, or better said addiction, to working with her pencil to the point where suppression was impossible.

Per chance, her father, a member of the Veterinary faculty working as anatomical illustrator, introduced her to Ron Stolk which led to the start of long collaboration.

After having at first worked for some time at the first Animal Prints location in Utrecht it was decided that, after moving the operation to the next location in Maassluis, Astrid would be working from home. Many drawings were designed during that time. At first many large drawings for the purpose of T-shirts and bags were designed but later also smaller designs for mugs, feeders, glasses, postcards, puzzles, etc. etc.

Astrid also illustrates on a monthly basis the drawings for the theme of “on consultation” which will soon be compiled and published. She is also working, secretly of course, on new collection lines for Animal Prints.

We will keep you informed on the further developments.
